Natural Treatment for Adult Acne
Adult acne typically is treated using commercial acne creams, toners and lotions that contain chemicals that dry up and eliminate acne. Although these products can remove adult acne from the face, they also can cause redness, peeling, irritation and dryness. Instead of chemical products, try using natural treatments to eliminate acne.

Calamine Lotion
-
Calamine lotion has been used for decades to treat itchy skin conditions such as chickenpox and poison ivy rash. Most people do not know that Calamine lotion can help reduce acne blemishes as well. It is particularly helpful in drying up and treating cystic acne, one of the more difficult acne blemishes to cure. Calamine lotion can be found at any grocery store. Shake the bottle thoroughly to maximize the concentration of the lotion. Squeeze it onto a cotton swab, and then apply it directly to acne spots. Let the Calamine lotion dry, and leave it on overnight. Rinse well with water in the morning.
Tea Tree Oil
-
Tea tree oil is an alternative to benzoyl peroxide, the leading acne treatment on the market. Benzoyl peroxide can dry and irritate skin. Tea tree oil has been shown in studies to be as effective as benzoyl peroxide, but without the side effects or irritations. You can find tea tree oil in many forms, including creams and salves. But the most common form is the undiluted oil. Soak a cotton swab in the tea tree oil, and then dip it into water to dilute it. Apply it to the skin up to three times per day.
Urine Therapy
-
Urine therapy has been used all over the world for centuries for the treatment of acne, psoriasis, eczema and illnesses of all kinds. Although it may seem like a waste product, urine is actually completely sterile and full of vitamins, hormones and enzymes. Urine, when applied to the skin, can reduce redness and irritation and deliver nutrients and hormones to the skin that can help to clear it. To use urine on the skin, catch the first morning's urine in a bowl and soak a cotton pad in it. Apply the pad to the skin, allowing it to stay there for around 15 minutes. You can either let the urine dry or rinse it off with water.
