Aisles of a Dollar Store

An online dollar store is similar to the dollar stores you find in your hometown, only it is set up to ship to people all over the country and even the world. But it can be difficult to decide what to sell in a dollar store. However, an online business can be just as lucrative as a standalone business. Whether you're looking to expand your physical store or start up a completely new venture, an online dollar store is a great way to reach a wider network of customers.

    Toys

  1. Sell small action figures, plastic dolls, coloring books, crayons, water toys, toy baseball/footballs and rubber and beach balls. These have good sales potential, as cheap toys are often bought in bulk for camp activities or for daycare facilities. Small and inexpensive figurines are also useful decorative items that people may purchase for their homes and gardens.
  2. Seasonal

  3. Sell seasonal items. You'll want to provide paper decorations for a holiday that is approaching. Start with streamers and posters. You can add snow globes, beach towels, water balloons and inexpensive figurines to your inventory depending on the season.
  4. Cookware

  5. Offer cookware. Paper plates, plastic plates, inexpensive knives and forks, pots and pans, cups and seasonal cutlery (such as red and green plates for Christmas time) may appeal to buyers. College students and those throwing together a party will be looking for these items on the cheap.
  6. Birthday Accessories

  7. Set up a sales category for candles, birthday cards, birthday decorations and birthday cutlery. Make sure you have a bit of variety, including items appropriate for younger children, girls, boys and adults.
  8. Specialty Items

  9. Offer specialty items as a hook that keeps customers coming back. If they can buy everything else at other dollar stores, how can yours stand out? Think about your culture or things you can make by hand. Inexpensive chotchkes from overseas, such as Chinese slippers and Russian stacking dolls, may catch on. Ornate hand-made greeting cards and hand silkscreened T-shirts are additional options. Having a specialty item may lure your customers in, but they'll likely stay if you have great deals on other things as well.
