A presentation is done to inform individuals of a product, new idea, and/or decision to be made. In order to ensure your presentation has a lasting impression on people it is important to have ice breakers before beginning a presentation. Ice breakers are needed to allow the audience see you as a human being and form a connection either by being humorous or honest. Ice breakers allow for everyone to relax and hence pay closer attention to your presentation than they otherwise would.
Ice Breaker Idea No. 1
Ice breakers can allow audience participation. It is an excellent way to get people interested in the topic and relaxed. If group size permits, have people write down something about themselves that no one knows and have the others guess who that person is. It is amazing to see the things some people reveal about themselves. It is a way to network with colleagues and form connections.
Ice Breaker Idea No. 2
Have participants say two things about themselves. One should be true and one should be a lie. Have participants guess which response was a lie and give their reasoning.
Ice Breaker Idea No. 3
Write words such as "agree" and "disagree" on a large sheet and post them on different walls in the room. Than make a statements such as "teamwork is a vital aspect to any company" than have everyone move to the wall that matches their opinion. After several statements have a group discussion as to why the participants chose "agree" or "disagree" with each statement.
