Homemade hair treatments are easily made from ingredients including egg yolks, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, jojoba oil and essential oils such as rosemary.

A classic egg yolk shampoo serves to thicken the hair from the albumen found in the egg yolk (many shampoos list albumen among their ingredients). Olive oil is a good carrier that will also nourish the hair.
A hair rinse from apple cider vinegar and lemon juice should be used sparingly to not strip the hair of its oils.
Jojoba oil and rosemary provide a light conditioner and sunscreen to protect your clean locks.

    Egg Shampoo

  1. Whip up two egg yolks with ¼ cup of olive oil to make a classic egg shampoo. Apply to wet hair and thoroughly work throughout. Rinse and shampoo hair with a gentle shampoo such as castille.
Using egg yolk thickens hair from the albumen found in the egg yolk.
  2. Clarify Hair

  3. To avoid buildup from other hair products or if you have oily hair, use apple cider vinegar and lemon juice to remove excess product.
Combine a cup of water with an ounce of apple cider vinegar and the juice of half a lemon. Pour over clean, wet hair and massage through to the scalp.
Doing this will clarify the hair and prepare it for a conditioner.
  4. Protect And Condition With Jojoba Oil

  5. You might choose to use your favorite hair conditioner or simply apply two tablespoons of olive oil (heated carefully in a small pot or in the microwave) to clean hair. If you have time, comb the hot oil through and wrap your hair in a towel and sleep with the oil in your hair overnight.
Or, let the oil soak through your hair for at least 20 minutes and rinse.
Let your hair dry naturally or light blow dry at a low setting. Apply one to two tablespoons of jojoba oil (actually a plant wax) with rosemary essential oil and comb through. The jojoba oil will seal in moisture and provide a light sunscreen to prevent sun highlights or fading.
