There has been notable documentation of supportive garments for women as far back as the seventh century. In the 16th century the corset was developed for the wealthy. It not only supported the breasts but also squeezed in the gut to create a thin looking waist. It wasn't until the 20th century when the modern looking bra was developed. It has been questioned as to the necessity of them but bras do serve specific purposes needed and desired by many women. It is designed to give support to the breasts. It is also used to lift and shape the breasts as much or as little as desired. Sizes typically range from A to D but in extreme cases there are DD, DDD and F sizes available to larger busted women.
It's not always easy to pick out bras. There are many questions you need to ask yourself. Do you want a wire or wireless bra, what color, what size, how much support?
