Hi, this is Christine with Hammer Time Fitness, and I'm here to talk to you about running intervals to lose weight. To lose weight, you need to get your heart rate up to burn calories so a perfect way to get your heart rate up and down is to run intervals. Now, with my boot campers, I have them start at three minutes. So, we walk for three minutes, and then we run for two and as you get better you can increase your speed and you can also increase your work out and work at different ways with the intervals. On some days, you might want to walk more than you run. On some days, you want to really increase the intensity by increasing those run periods. So as a beginner, I would suggest you start out nice and easy, even with a walk. So, you're going to walk for maybe five, ten minutes, whatever you feel comfortable with, and then you're going to add a short burst of running, maybe 10, 20 seconds, whatever it takes to get that heart rate up and to burn calories.
