Hi, my name is Bob Linde. I'm an Acupuncture Physician and Registered Herbalist. Today, I'm going to talk to you about natural herbs for high cholesterol. So, there's a number of different ways that we can lower or improve our cholesterol by using herbs or supplements. So, one of the ones that's best known and some are controversial of course is red yeast rice. This is a Chinese herb actually called Hong Qu that is can be found in a variety of different forms and in health food stores and even some Chinese practitioners still carry this in their pharmacy. So, we can go ahead and use that based on the bottle dosage. But, it doesn't work quite as well for raising the HDL and it will lower the LDL, but it does so a similar fashion that many of the prescription drugs do since the source of those prescription drugs was originally from red yeast rice, the statin drugs that were often prescribed now for the high cholesterol. But, there's also some combinations of different herbal products out there such as the Cholesterol Response that's all natural products. It has a variety of different herbs combined that are both helpful in lowering the LDL and raising the HDL. And then, there's a new product in the market that's actually utilizing Bergamont. But it's particular sub-species of Bergamont that comes from Italy that there's been some wonderful double blind placebo controlled studies that is demonstrated that not only does it lower the bad cholesterol and triglycerides, it's raising HDL and is helping regulate blood sugar. So, this is a new one on the market that we may see more about in the near future. So, make sure that you adjust your diet, exercise and ensuring that we're getting lots of fruits and vegetables that will all help to improve our, our blood chemistry and that we see our medical practitioner and our herbalist to ascertain the best combination of herbs, drugs and dietary and lifestyle recommendations to address our particular needs. So, please enjoy your herbs.
