Hi. I'm Hilary Talbott, acupuncture physician and clinical herbalist. Today, we will be discussing acupressure for stenosis. A stenosis is a narrowing of the spinal column that can cause great pain anywhere along the spinal column itself. So I'm going to show you a set of points in your hand today that can actually relieve pain located in the mid portion of the back from stenosis. Now, this is just going to help manage the symptom. It's actually not going to treat the stenosis, the narrowing of the spinal column itself, but it can help in alleviating the pain. So, this set of extra point is located on the dorsum--or the back--of the hand, and they're pretty easy to find. They are located between the fifth and the fourth bones of the hands, as well as the second and the third. So, I'm just going to take my fingers and slide down until I come to the indentation right before the bones meet together. You want to use pretty firm pressure here. So, once you locate the points, you can actually use a thumb, and this should give you some relief in the mid portion of the back for pain associated with stenosis. Again, this isn't going to cure the stenosis itself, but only manage the symptom. In order to find out the root cause of the stenosis, and have points that are effective to your cause, I encourage you to seek out your local acupuncture physician, and if you don't have one, please visit AcuFinder.com to find one in your area. I'm Hilary Talbott, and that was acupressure for stenosis.
