Hi, I'm JJ Virgin, nutrition and fitness expert of jjvirgin.com. And today, I'm going to show you how to tone your upper body while walking. Well actually not really. I don't want you to think of going out for a walk and doing exercises while you are doing it. You know you see those people out there and they are walking and they are doing all sorts of crazy stuff. They look little coo coo don't you think? Well the challenge is too that when you are doing that you actually can increase your risk of overuse injuries, really tweaking out your neck and shoulder muscles. So instead what you want to do is walk in a place that has benches around. And you can turn that park into your own little mini park horse. So, you are going to walk and push it hard and burst. And then alternate that with dips and push-ups that you can do on a bench. Little easy park bench. So, I'm going to show you how to turn that park bench into your own personal torture chamber. Ready, here's some push-ups you can do. Make sure when you are doing your push-ups that your body is in one long line. You've got your belly button pulled to your spine and you've got your glutes tight. You shouldn't have your hips sagging. Now you can also do those down on the grass. And you can also do those against a wall. The other thing you can do while you are out walking and really pushing it hard is take a break and do a set of dips. I'm going to show you how to do these easy and then how to make them harder. Easier is to have your knees bent. Okay. And if that's too easy you just walk your feet out farther. But important here is to make sure that your back is straight and is perpendicular to the floor. Don't pull your hips away that makes it easy. That's cheating. Okay so you see how easy it is to go somewhere where there's some benches do some push ups, do some dips. They tone your upper body. They are big hard movements and they are going to be a great addition to your program. Turns your walk into a little circuit training course. I'm JJ Virgin of jjvirgin.com. And that's how to tone your upper body while walking.
