Hi, I'm Hilary Talbott, acupuncture physician and clinical herbalist. Today, we will be discussing acupressure for emphysema. Now emphysema is a serious medical condition so I hope that if it's something you are experiencing you're in touch with your medical professionals to help you manage this chronic disease. The first point I'm going to show you is lung seven. Now to find this it's easy to find on yourself. You just lock the hands together making an L with the thumb and the fingers. And where your pointer finger lands just off the bone here in a little divot is where lung seven is on you. Now this point helps to open the lungs and restore breathing. So gentle pressure in a circular motion on this point several times a day for about a minute at a time can often help with breathing. Another point located on the same channel is lung nine. Just follow the channel up into the inside of the arm and it's in a divot in the wrist right here. This point actually helps to open the blood vessels the entire body. So that when you do breathe you can grasp oxygen a little bit better. Now there are many points that could assist you with breathing when you are experiencing flare ups of emphysema but it's important to understand the underlying conditions behind your disease. If you haven't done so already, I encourage you to visit your local acupuncture physician. You can find one on I'm Hilary Talbott and that was acupressure for emphysema.
