Hi, I'm Amy Newman, fitness expert for Gold's Gym and creator of The Perfect 10 Workout, and I'm going to show you yoga and lumbar stenosis. With lumbar stenosis you have major chronic back pain. One of the best alleviators is the forward bend. Sit with your legs stretched out, take in a deep breath, inhale lifting up, exhale reach out over your legs and hold this pose pressing through the crown of your head as though there was something pulling on your head and lengthening your spine. You want to try to get your tailbone back so you can even lift up your sit bones and press back, stretching forward, breathe and then try to relax over your legs as much as possible. Feel your back open up, bring your elbows down so you can round out your shoulders, stretching your spine. Come up and another alleviator of back pain, roll back onto your back and hug a knee into your chest, stretching the other leg out. Relax your neck, relax your mind. Breathe into your body, bring the other knee in and switch legs. And finally bring both knees in, try to flatten out your back, hug your knees into your chest. You can even bring the soles of your feet in reaching for the outsides of your feet to round out your back opening up your knees, bringing your head up towards your toes. Breathe, don't hold your breath. You can even come further and roll back down. Bring your knees back in, hold your knees apart, pull them in towards your armpits. Pull your spine nice and long on the floor, breathe, don't hold your breath. I'm Amy Newman. Thanks for joining me for yoga and lumbar stenosis.
