Hello, my name is Traci Parrish. I'm a graphic designer and I'm going to show you how to make a simple diagram using Photoshop. I've made a rectangle. We're going to make our graph inside. We're going to make a diagram to show sales over 10 years. By selecting the Type tool, putting the cursor at the top of the page, you can now type a title for your diagram. Selecting the Type tool and placing it below you can put years off to the side and you can put your numbers. To create your bars, select the rectangle tool. I've selected red, making a new layer, placing my cursor just above the first year. As I click and drag I can make it as long as I like and as wide as I like to show the first year. It automatically fills in red. Selecting the wand I can select this shape. If I copy and paste, it makes an exact duplicate of that bar that I can move over. By selecting free transform I can increase the height to show the next year of sales. Repeating this step gives me a third bar. Free transform and I can show an increase over 300. If I want to give my chart a little bit more dimension, select the layer of this bar, select layer, layer style and bevel and emboss. What this is going to do is give a little bit of dimension to the bar just so it looks a little more visually interesting. To do this for my other bars, I simply copy the layer style and paste it into the other layers. Now all of my bars look nice and three dimensional. And that's how you make a simple diagram using Photoshop.
