Hello, my name is Traci Parrish. I'm a graphic designer and today I'm going to show you how to use Photoshop to remove stretch marks. I'm going to place my photo to be edited inside my document. As you can see it's a picture of a woman's abdomen with some stretch marks here on her hip. By holding control and clicking on the layer it is selecting the layer. Photoshop has this great tool called the healing brush. I can use it to get rid of blemishes. It looks like a little Band-Aid. I'm going to select it and define the size of my brush up here in my drop down palette by selecting my diameter and the hardness will tell me how sharp it will be. You don't want it to be to sharp because the fuzziness of the edges will help to blur the blemishes. I'm going to hold the Alt key and as you can now see my cursor now turns into a target. Now what this is to do is to define the area that you want to copy into the area that's blemished. So I'm going to select up here a little higher where her skin's nice and smooth and that's defined a clear area. By pointing towards the edge of the stretch marks and clicking it now duplicates that texture over the stretch marks. So I'm just going to continue to do this by defining the area to copy and clicking over the stretch marks. By defining an area just above where the blemishes are, it ensures that the light and the highlights and the lowlights kind of maintain the same. So I'm going to go all around and get rid of them. By having the layers selected, if I click outside as you can see, nothing happened. The brush would pick up on the white in the background and would blur that into my photo and we don't want that. So, by having it selected it keeps all of our edits just inside our photo. So now I can select, Control D which deselects this layer. I'm now going to place the images it was before so we can see it before and after. I've placed the original image so that we can see what it looked like before and how it looks now. So here's our edited picture nice and smooth and here it is before. As you can see the area with the blemishes has been removed and it looks nice and smooth. And that is a simple way how to remove stretch marks using the healing brush in Photoshop.
