Hi, this is Jason Morgan with Muscleworx fitness in Carolina Beach, North Carolina. Today, we're going to discuss core workouts. You're concentrating on, you know, increasing whether it be the strength of your core, maybe the physical appearance of the core, looking for a more toned abdominal region, or even the six pack abs that a lot of guys like to show off on the beach. One thing you got to keep in mind is, first and foremost, your nutritional aspect of your day. You've got to have the proper nutritional plan in place to help get rid of that excess body fat. Now, the next thing we're after is increasing the core strength, and, the exercises that we can do for the core region. Obviously, everybody knows about crunches. There's a multitude of ways you can them, whether it be utilizing exercise ball machines in the gym, things of that nature. But, I want to tell you a little something that's often overlooked, and that's if you do good compound movements, your core will get worked doing those compound movements. Barbell squats, your core supports your entire body, so you're working your core while stabilizing that weight that's strong across your back through the process of the squat. Walking lunges, you're holding your core tight, holding your shoulders upright. That's actual function of the core of the body. Your strength comes from your core, so if you're utilizing free weight movements, you have to stabilize yourself, and therefore you get the benefit of those exercises while working core without just doing traditional crunches, and twisting oblique movements. Those are a few tips and tricks to help increase the core strength for your abdominal workouts.
