I'm Amy Hamilton-Weldon, Oakwood Nail Spa, Raleigh, North Carolina, and I'm going to tell you how to encourage nail growth after acrylics. Well, if you're going to take your nails off, I recommend that you don't just do it, have them put on, go to the prom and decide you have to take them off that day, wait a couple weeks, let them grow out, let them become loose a little bit on their own, then they're easier to get off. And then, as soon as you take them off, apply cuticle oil, and if you have just taken your acrylic nails off, you need to apply cuticle oil often, like several times a day. And there again, it's moisturizing, moisturizing, but that's the best thing you can do because acrylic nails are made to stay on well. They can't stay on well and come off easy too, and when you take acrylics off, you probably just want to keep them short because in order to put acrylics on, you have to file the nail before you put it on, well that in and of itself makes it thinner. So, until that area that you filed grows out, probably about six months, six to eight months, everybody's different, you probably just want to keep them short and not try to let them grow long. Okay, those were just some basic tips but you should always consult a nail professional.
