I'm Judith Arnell with Judith Arnell Jewelers in Portland, Oregon, and in this segment, we're going to talk about cleaning your jade jewelry. Jade jewelry, they're a nephrite or jadeite needs special extra care in cleaning because it is the more porous stone, softer stone. And sometimes some of the jade that was on the market now will be dyed or could have some kind of a coating on it. So a harsh chemical or high heat temperature ultrasonics or steamers can damage your jade. So we have to be a little bit more careful. I also don't recommend using polishing cloths on the metal around the jade. The best way to clean your jade would be to use a toothbrush, a very soft toothbrush. And much of the jade that you'll find is carved so you can use the toothbrush to get in between the cracks, the little, the carving to clean it. Run it under warm soapy solution and then rinse it under the faucet, drying it very carefully. This is the best way without harming your jade to keep it clean. I'm Judith Arnell, and that's how we clean jade jewelry.
