Hi, I'm Tara Pollak, physical therapist at Evolution Physical Therapy, and I am giving you tips on the ankle alphabet exercise for ankle pain. What you are going to want to do is lie face up on a table with your ankle hanging off the edge of the table so you can move through your full available range of motion. Now, Shante, I want you to pretend as if your big toe is a pencil and you are going to draw the alphabet in the air. We are going to start with our upper case letters starting with A and going through B all the way through Z. I want you to keep your leg fixed on this bolster and just move from the ankle. Go ahead and start tracing in the air the letter A, good, and B and C and D, good. So, you can continue all the way through the alphabet. You can also switch it up and do lowercase letters as well. If this exercise causes you any increase in pain, I want you to stop and seek the advice of a skilled physical therapist so that you don't injure yourself. I'm Tara, and these are ankle alphabet exercises for physical therapy.
