"Hello! My name is Conan Elliott and I'm the director of Instruction here Camas Meadows Golf Club in Camas, Washington. Today we're going to talk about how to choose a putter. Well, there's several things you need. First of all, you need an expert to help you. Someone that has a knowledge of how long a putter you would need, how much launch you need on it, and what the lie angle would be on the putter. Third of all, you're going to need putters. You're going to need several kinds of putters to be able to choose from in order to get it. Some other things that's very important there is that you, you like the looks and you like the feel of the putter. That's very important in when you choose a putter. But the most important part is that you can aim that putter. And no matter how good the putters is, no matter how expensive the putter is, if you can't aim it, it has very little value to you. So you'd actually need a laser to be able to set down in front of the putter to see when you aim your putter, where it's actually aiming. And we do that, we do that determination by how much offset or lack of offset's on the putter. So we have, there's basically three styles of putters. There is the old conventional, what they called blade type of putter which is very thin, and the shaft goes into the middle. There's also what we call an actual Ping look-a-like. Ping actually designed the length, the style of this putter years and years ago. Now it's conventional to every one, where it has some heel and toe waiting in a soft thin center, with a little bit of offset, the shaft going in front of the putter. And then there's the mallet type. This is what's called a two ball which actually has the looks of two balls to help you line it up. Again, a very mallet look on the putter. So in recap, you need the styles of putters that can possibly work for you. You need a expert to help you, guide you along the way, and then actually using a laser to make sure that you can line the putter up. I'm Conan Elliott and that's how to choose a putter."
