Video Transcript

"Hi! I'm Tracy Prentiss of Montague, Massachusetts, and I'm going to show you how to make a web page in Microsoft Word. Any document that you've created in Word can be turned into a web page. The formatting that you've put in will be converted to a web format. The most important thing to do when you want to start working on a document as a web page is to switch your view. You may click on the View tab in the ribbon to do so, to the Web Layout view. This will show you what the document will look like when saved as a web page. Your text will wrap differently, a table of contents will look different, and many things will change in appearance. At this point, we want to make any adjustments to your document that you desire to make it look the way you want it to when you put it on the web. One thing that many web pages have is a colored background. To change the background of a document, click on your Page Layout tab in the ribbon, and in the Page Background group there is a Page Color drop down. You can choose any color you like that you think looks good for your web page. When you're satisfied with the appearance of your web page, go to your Office menu button, and choose Save As. When the Save As dialog box comes up, you will name your document as one normally would. But before you click on Save, you need to change your Save As type, from Word document to a web page. Once you've made that change, click Save, and your document is now a web page that can be opened in any web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. And that's how to make a Word document into a web page."
