"Hi, my name is Michael Levin, and I'm with EverythingMortorcycles.com. Let's review motorcycle engine oil filters. There's a number of products out on the market that will provide excellent protection for the motorcycle. The engine oil filter is very important. It will pick up different types of debris that may possibly get in to the engine to protect your motorcycle. The medium inside the oil filter is one of the most important parts to the oil filter. Depending on the particle size you want your oil filter to be able to protect the engine, there's are three or four types that are very popular. Some of the brands will be Fram, K&N, which is my favorite, Emgo which is also an excellent base type oil filter. The better the filtration the better protection to the motorcycle. K&N for example uses a little bit better filtration without decreasing flow of the oil, which is very important. You can always improve filtration rate, however if you impede the flow of the oil that can create problems on the motorcycle. Emgo is an excellent filter. We find it's comparable to most of the oil filters that are coming out from the factory. K&N provides a lot of performance enhancing type medium inside the filter. It also has a security nut which can be used in race applications as well as again providing the best filtration for the motor. They do range in price generally starting around six dollars anywhere up to about fifteen dollars. But depending on the motorcycle will be depending upon the price for the engine oil filter. engine oil filters are one of the lifelines to the motorcycle. It seems simple, it's inexpensive. However an improper motorcycle or a overly abused or used engine oil filter will reduce the ability of the filter to protect your motor. The motor is your biggest investment on the motorcycle. Any type of engine damage that can be created from lack of changing the oil filter can be very problematic and extremely costly to the motorcycle owner. We like to recommend the oil filter be changed anywhere from every twenty five hundred miles to every fifty five hundred miles depending on the motorcycle we're working with."
