"Hi, this is Nathan Morgan with partspeople.com. In this video we're going to explain how to make your laptop battery last longer. There are a couple of different ways to do this. The first thing you need to do is optimize your laptop to run on battery. This will use less power and allow for a longer battery use between charges. Examples of this is dimming your screen and slowing your processor down using the speed step option. Vista and XP both have battery optimize modes. Another thing that people are concerned about is how to maximize the life of their battery. Well, what you need to be concerned about is keeping the battery charged at a hundred percent all the time. The batteries need to be discharged sometimes. They need to be cycled. So what you want to do is unplug the laptop from the wall and let it run on the battery occasionally. And if you're not ever going to use the battery you can just go ahead and remove the battery from the machine and keep it plug in the wall all the time. This is Nathan Morgan with partspeople.com."
