Hi my name is Tanya Batts and I'm a personal trainer at Gold's Gym. I want to talk to you about how to build stamina with yoga. So with anything if you want to build stamina you absolutely have to practice it and yoga is a practice. So when you first start yoga and when I first started yoga it was kind of tough on me. Warrior II, start with those standing strength poses, arms long, melt the shoulders down and back, you kind of want to tuck the tail under. The core is strong. So if you hold this long enough that thigh really starts to burn. So when you first start yoga you might not be able to hold it quite as long and you might have to just come on out of it and do the other side quickly but as you practice yoga you're going to be able to hold those poses longer, increases the circulation in the body. It is going to increase flexibility. It is just kind of amazing. Even with tree pose, you want to start with tree pose, your foot can stay on the floor but as your core begins to get stronger you begin to get more flexible. That foot can come up to inner thigh, hands come together. You'll be able to hold these poses longer. You'll be feeling great. That's a great hip opener, feels good. There is so many other poses you can do like Down Dog. I'm going to show it to you. You want to inhale, hands go to the floor. Step one foot back then the other, Down Dog, kind of a weird pose but it feels so good and then you want to shift forward to Plank Position, come on down and hover, Chaturanga. You're not hitting the floor but if you are new you might go the floor but don't do it. When you get stronger you're going to be able to hold these poses longer and you're really going to learn to appreciate what yoga can do for you, your stamina is going to be really strong and the strength from yoga, that's really what is going to help you feel fantastic and it's going to build your stamina.
