How to Write and Paste HTML Code For Your Articles

Video Preview

Summary: Some people are afraid to use HTML code in their articles or website, but it's not very complicated to use. You'll need to learn basic HTML because some article platforms such as Squidoo and Go Articles do not have the user-friendly WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) Editor. Since eHow does not accept HTML nor Java Script in their text boxes, the best way to understand this is to view the attached video.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Creating a Clickable Hyperlink. The video demonstrates this clearly. Remember: You can type any type of text in between the karats. That text will be clickable and re-directed to the http address in between the quotes.
The clickable text is called a Text Link or Anchor Text. Try to Make Your Text Link a Keyword if possible. The search engines will pick it up easier.

  2. Step 2

Bold. Bold is a simple code. It's two Bs with carats around them. The second B has a forward slash in front of it. Your text goes in between them.

  3. Step 3

Underline. Underline is also a simple code. It's two Us with carats around them. The second U has a forward slash in front of it. Your text goes in between them.

  4. Step 4

Italics. The same applies for italics. It's two Is with carats around them. The second I has a forward slash in front of it. Your text goes in between them.

  5. Step 5

Pasting Large HTML code. When pasting large HTML code for a banner ad or a video, you must be in the HTML mode of your website or article platform. Pasting HTML code in the WYSIWG portion will just look like a bunch of carats, slashes and letters, but it won't be active.
