"Hey it's Kevin Schmenk coming here McDonough, Georgia at Hazard County Skate Park. I ride bikes for Evolution Bikes out of Acworth, Georgia. Today we're going to learn how to adjust pedals and take them off. There's two separate types of pedals. You've got a flat pedal which your shoe just goes on like a normal tennis shoe, your DC's, your Van's, things like that that you wear. The flat bottomed skate shoes. And then you've also got clip pedals that require a special shoe to clip in. Those are more geared towards racing and things like that. And the flat pedals are more along the lines of a freestyle pedal. But today we're going to be putting both flat pedals on. What you want to do is you want to make sure you get the right size wrench, put it on the pedal. Now there's a little groove right here on the inside near the crank arm, and what that does is allows you to put the wrench on it. And you just loosen it and just pull it off. Once you get it loose you should be able to move it with your fingers. And you just keep turning until it completely comes off. Now an important thing when you go to put the pedals on is you put the right side on the right side and the left side on the left side. And the way you judge that is when you're sitting on the bike the left is the left and the right is the right. So we just took off the left side pedal. And you're going to take it, and I've already pre-greased it, but you want to make sure that there's grease on here. And then you just take it, then you twist it back into place on the crank arm until it gets snug. And then you take your wrench and, each pedal no matter what kind of pedal it is, has the groove for the wrench. You just tighten it all the way down. And it'll snug up and that's how you change a bike pedal. One thing I want to mention also is when you go to put the pedals on, I mentioned before, make sure you put the left on the left and the right on the right. Each pedal will have an L and R. The L is left and the R is right. And that's just how you indicate which one goes on which because of the thread pattern. You might get frustrated because it's not going to go on there. But just make sure you get the left for the left side and the right on the right side."
