"Hi. My name is Oz Pineda. I'm a professional basketball coach here in Miami, Florida. In this clip, I'm going to show you how to take a perfect jump shot. First, we'll start, we've got to make sure that our feet are shoulder-width apart. All right, we want our feet pointing towards the basket. We want our shoulders pointed towards the basket. We want to make sure that the ball is on our fingertips. We don't want it lying flat on our hand, because we cannot control it. We want it up on our fingertips a little bit. All right, we want to create three 90 degree angles. Set the ball. All right, we want body and arm to be one 90 degree angle. We want arm and forearm to be the second 90 degree angle. And the third 90 degree angle will be the forearm and hand. We want to make sure we use our legs in our jump shot. All right, we're going to squat down. And he's going to come up, and as he comes up, his arm is going to come up and extend up. Now you're going to follow through. What we mean by follow through is our hand, our fingers, will follow the ball through the hoop until the ball hits the ground. That creates the arc that we need. All right, after we do that for a few minutes, we'll add the guide hand. Our guide hand goes right on the side of the ball. Same concept; we still want to bend our knees, and we want our guide hand to shoot through the ball. Our shooting hand to shoot through our guide hand. We do not want our guide hand to move. We want to be able to shoot right through it. As we get further from the basket, it's really more important that we use our legs, okay, that we get in a good stance. Just shoot the ball, jump shots. All right, you notice that they squat down when they take their jump shots. And they jump up, okay? One of the things to being a good shooter is you want to be consistent. You don't want to miss your shots left or right. If you miss short, but it's straight, that's okay. If you miss long, but it's straight, that's also okay. That means at least you know your form is good. It might be late in the game and you're tired. You don't have your legs into your shot. You can always adjust that. Notice how high he gets off the ground when he shoots the basketball. He holds his follow through, and he stays right there with his jump shot. You don't want to fade from a jump shot, and you don't want to drift or move when you're taking a shot. What I tell my players here is that we want to be able to stay in the same spot. All right. Thank you for watching. This is Oz Pineda."
