"How to make a dog work for food? This is kind of funny because of course, all dogs eat and most dogs have a food they would be motivated by, if we were just willing to branch out a little bit and try different things. Sometimes people are unwilling to offer as treats, what they call, people food. But in reality, chicken and beef and these other foods are their food as well. It's just a good idea to cut back on preservatives and things like salt and sugar in their diet. So honestly, you'll be much better off working with some boiled chicken or something along those lines or ground beef, instead of working with prepared, processed dog treats. So and if you're doing a lot of work with treats, then you might want to cut back on their regular food. Kind of, feed you know, get them to them to work for part of their meal. So if they have a problem with gaining weight like Lady does here. So if you can find the right thing and you're in a calm, quiet environment, if you're dog is a little bit sensitive, and you can offer them something and they willingly take it. Then you have their wrapped attention, as Lady is giving me here, waiting for the next grand. Then you know that your dog is motivated to go forward. There are a handful of dogs who might be motivated by a toy, having a ball that they can then play with, when they get, give what it is that you're looking for. So, but food is pretty much a universal motivator. In fact, it's called the primary motivator for dogs, it's something we don't have to teach them to like, they already like food. So Lady will do just about anything for food, Lady down, good girl, sit, good girl, sit."
