"What equipment is necessary to make your internet wireless. Well first you have to have a computer, because obviously you are not going to get very far if you don't have one of those. But all kidding aside the next thing you will going to need is a wireless router, which combines the functionality of a wired router, and also has wireless broadcasting capability. The third thing you will need is going to depend on what type of computer you have. If you have a laptop, most laptops these days have built in wireless Ethernet access. If you don't have built in wireless Ethernet access you will need to purchase a card. Depending on the type of machine you are using it will either be a PCI card that would go into a desktop. Or it might be a PCI express, or a PCMCIA card, which would commonly be used in a laptop. Different wireless standards include 80211A, 80211B, 80211G, and N. The A standard is not really used much any more, it is considered pretty much obsolete. The B standard is still used to some degree, certain wireless hot spots and the very popular Nintendo DS among others. Wireless G is what I feel that in my opinion is the by in large most people that use wireless have. Wireless G it is a pretty solid amount of speed, and it is very inexpensive. Wireless N or more specifically draft N is the newsest most recent standard. The reason it is called draft is because the powers that be that decide what the standards are still are not in exact agreement as to what end this standard of N should be. So as such it is still draft phase, which means that it is still may be changed in the future."
