"Because your tent is going to be your home in the outdoors it's important to know how to properly clean your tent. The first step is getting your tent out and actually setting it up so that you can properly clean it while it's up and open. So when you get your tent setup, this is obviously how it will be after you climb out of it in the morning. One tip would be just in terms of always keeping it clean is making sure you shake it out after every time you sleep in it. So when you climb out in the morning it's easy to pull stuff in there as you're getting your gear in there and as you're climbing in and out in the night. So just pick your tent up and shake it out so that all the dust and all the dirt, pine needles and anything else that has gotten in there can get out. So when you actually want to clean your tent off, you want to close it up but leave it standing up and get a nice big bucket of soapy water with some sort of mild detergent in it. I prefer to use just some nice mild dish washing detergent. Put this in a bucket with warm water, suds it up and then just take your normal, everyday sponge and you're actually going to wipe down your tent with that nice mild detergent mixed with water. You're going to go all around your tent, wiping as you go, making sure to clean off all the tent material. After you finished wiping it down with that nice, soapy water, you're going to grab your good old hose and you're going to hose the whole thing down and spray it all down to get it nice and rinsed off. You want to make sure all the soap is removed from the tent material. And then you can just leave it up and let it dry out through some sunny afternoon and your tent will be nice and clean."
