"When buying a used kayak you have to first determine what type of kayak that you want. Right here we have a touring boat, long and narrow made for tracking a straight line, large bodies of water. This red one right here is a recreational kayak, very wide, very stable less likely to flip over. The boat I am sitting on is a tandem kayak made for two people. Tandem kayaking is not for everyone and in the back here I have a little white water kayak that is made for going down the rivers. When you are buying a used kayak you always, first of all you want to find one and they are very hard to find because people like to keep them forever since they do last forever. But if you do find one what you want to look for is that it has a nice comfortable seat, this one has a high seat back so you can put your back against it. Also foot pegs are very important. When you have the foot pegs it allows you to keep your feet on the foot pegs and push your back up against here. This boat also has a storage compartment in the back allowing you to keep dry stuff and also acts as a very important safety feature when you are paddling. If the boat happened to tip over only the front part will fill up with water and you'd be able to empty it out a lot easier. Also when buying one you want to look at the hull. Some V boats are very durable like I said earlier but it allows you to make sure there is not a lot of scratches or what they call oil canning. Oil canning is when it looks like the bottom of your boat is very hilly. When you look at it make sure there is no holes, no cracks. Some boats can be repaired by doing some plastic welding if you find a good deal. On the kayak also when you buy a used kayak they can range in all different prices. You can get some very inexpensive ones to very expensive if you are going to boats that are made out of fiberglass and Kevlar."
