"This is Chris Fernandez here with Coran McMullen at Flash Academy here in Salt Lake City, Utah. How do you breathe when you fight? For one, you want to breathe out every punch you throw. You always hear fighters go, "Ssss, ssss." What they're doing is taking breath out. You don't want to hold that in, that will fatigue you especially if you're going more than four, five rounds at a time. But you do want make sure you breathe out. The, the main thing is you're staying relax through the entire time. Myself, every night before I go to bed I try to take at least one hundred deep breaths before I go to bed and that helps expand my lungs. So when I do come in and whenever I spar, I can actually breathe better and also when I run to, I can actually breathe a lot easier when I run as well. But like I said, you don't want to hold your breath when you're boxing; that's the worst thing you can do. The main thing is you want to breathe out even if it's just a, "Ssss, ha, ha", whatever you want to do and you're making noises breathe out, that's only fine. Make sure you're breathing out with every punch. If you ever get the wind knock out during a fight, the best you do is cover up. I mean it's really hard to recover from that; the faster you recuperate from something like that, it's the better shape you're in. And so I would say move and so about twenty, thirty seconds later, you should be, you should be able to be okay from body shots."
