"Parts of an archery arrow. Your basic component is the shaft or the stick used to make an arrow. It can be made of wood, carbon, fiberglass or aluminum. An arrow is designed so that even if it leaves a bow crooked it will fly straight so it has what we call weight forward or tip weight. The front being the tip, in this case it's changeable, it screws in and out. The back is the nock, the part that you attach to the bowstring to shoot it. And then the fletching which creates a drag for the back of the arrow so that the arrow will straighten out in flight and typically the fletching is made of either plastic or this is an example of turkey feathers. Very typically are fletched with a little angle or a helix or a helical, that creates a drag which helps the arrow to stabilize in flight spinning it similar to a bullet spinning in flight which helps it to be accurate. And those are the basic parts of an arrow designed to make it straighten out and fly correctly."
