"Hello, my name is Dr. Robert Hernandez. I'm a psychologist in Miami, Florida, and I'm president and owner of La Farfalla Retreat House. Treatments for sleep disorders include what a lot of us in the medical and mental health professions call sleep hygiene. One of the things to remember is always have a good diet. Eat pretty much three hours before you go to sleep. That'll help. And a routine of exercises to help you feel more relaxed and reduce stress. That's one way of going about it. The other way would be involving sleeping pills or medication that your primary care physician could prescribe for you. And again, the importance of having a treatment of cognitive behavioral techniques -- that those are also very important to achieve a sense of relaxation and change the way that you think about sleep. A lot of the times, your sleeping disorders is just saying...that you're thinking that sleeping is not important for your health, and you have to change that thought pattern."
