"Hi I'm Gary Wilson here at America's Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College. Tigers sleep a long time. Any animal out there trying to find food of course, has to balance it's energy intake, and how much it expends on energy. So tigers are very energy efficient. They sleep a long time, eighteen to twenty hours a day. And then they wait somewhere, and wait for a prey to come to them like a deer would walk by on a trail. And if the deer is a little too far away they will that's too far I will wait til the next one comes by. And the deer has to be just close enough, and the tiger knows how much energy it is going to use up to catch that deer."
