"Hi, I'm Lorna Collette with Equity Real Estate here in Salt Lake City, Utah, and I have been asked to discuss the topic of "How Long Does it Take to Become a Real Estate Agent?" It can happen faster or slower, depending on how long you want to take the classes. Here in Utah it takes 120 hours to get your license to be a real estate agent. You can do that pretty fast or you can take as long as three or four months, but the most important thing, at this school you are trained on the legal matters and state law and national law, and just the legal things. After this you want to make sure that you find a company that will train you on the practical aspects of becoming a real estate agent. That means that you may have to set your mind that you're not going to make a lot of money that first year. You really want to be trained well by a real estate company. You might even work with someone and kind of follow them and watch what they do. This is a profession that you can get into quickly and it can be a wonderful lifetime profession, but you do need to be trained in many different ways."
