"Hi I'm Will from the Outspokin Bicycle and Sport shop located in Newbury, New Hampshire. Today we are going to discuss proper seat height on a bicycle. First of all most bicycles now a days have a quick release lever you just open or close. Allows you to lower or raise the seat. Once you have found the right height you want to make sure it is closed tightly. Throw you leg over the seat, make sure the ball of your foot is on the pedal, pedals in the down position all the way down. You look at my leg we have a slight bend in the knee, that is the proper seat height right here. Too much bend can cause a lot of damage to your knee you don't get a good leg extension, you don't get a good use of your muscles. Too much extension allows your knee to loosen up, cause a lot of problems there too. So a slight bend keeps all the muscles tight in your leg, allows you to use the muscles in your leg to the fullest extent. So the proper seat height is about a five degree bend in your knee. And that is how you have the proper seat height on a bicycle."
