"Hello, I am Dr. Vimai Patel. I am a radiologist who works at Gateway Radiology in Pinellas Park, Florida. Today, we are going to talk about digital radiology or digital radiography. Digital radiology involves utilization of x-rays to obtain images of body parts. As with conventional radiology radiation is utilized. Once the radiation passes through the imaging patient then the information is collected on a special equipment that in the past used to be collected on the film when x-rays were taken. In digital radiology, now there is a fixed imaging plate that is permanent in the machine, and once the x-rays pass through the patient and that data is collected then it is processed digitally through a computer and a image is generated. Once that image is generated then it can be sent to a workstation to be interpreted by the radiologist. In digital radiology, there is no need to remove and replace cassettes as in the past with conventional radiology or with computed radiography. Digital radiology involves faster processing of information that can be generated and directly sent to a proper workstation that can allow the radiologist to interpret the image faster, compared to conventional radiography where in the past film had to be put through a processor which was a lengthier process. I am Dr. Vimai Patel. I work as a radiologist at Gateway Radiology in Pinellas Park, Florida, and you have just been informed about digital radiology."
