"Okay, we're going to talk today about how to become an automotive service technician. And probably one of the first things you'll want to do is think about some of the classes that you're going to be taking in high school, if you're still a high school student. Important classes that you should take are all the science classes that you can take, physics, math and even some bookkeeping and accounting are very important. Next thing that you'll want to consider is visiting your local community college and checking out their Automotive Technology Department, and see if you can enroll in one of their programs. Community colleges are the least expensive way to get job entry level skills. Another method that you can use is check out some of the manufacturers. They have some sponsorship programs whereby you can work at a dealership part time. Take classes part time. And, over a period of a couple years, you will be guaranteed that you'll have a job in a dealership for that particular make of vehicle, and, in a nutshell, that's the way to do it. You want to remember that there's always work as an automotive service technician, and you, you know, you do want to prepare yourself for it. There's also a lot of certifications that are involved, and you're also going to need to acquire a lot of hand tools. And again, this is, you know, tools of your trade that make your job easier for you to do. And, a lot of things to consider. But your community college program will give you the proper training to get you into the service field."
