"Hi, my name's Dave Casuto and I am the director of San Francisco Computer Tutors here in San Francisco, California. Well, in this brief tutorial we're going to talk about what is a computer engineer, such a vast topic. Computer engineers basically are responsible for the designing development implementation and testing of computer parts and computer software. Okay, so, they're in charge of basically deciding what components go into particular parts of the software in terms of the usability, in terms of the coding and programming using different programming language to decide what, how these programs are built and then once they are decided what they built, then they actually develop them. They bring it to development from the design stage and they actually implement this programing working with other programmers, working with designers, working with product developers and then at that point, then they begin the implementation of it. So, that's including testing, user testing, testing again. Quality assurance are also known as QA and at that point, you're looking for bugs in the software development. So, these are things that are very important to the, to the process for getting it live. So, in order to be a programmer, you need to know a lot about operating systems; how operating systems work, the various operating systems. You need to know how the software will also interact with the operating system to make it a clean, clean implementation. Okay, so those are some things that you need to know about. In addition, software programmers need to know languages like C plus plus and some other object-oriented languages. Okay, so good luck to you and hope that helps."
