"Hi, I'm Kerri at Zebra in Berkeley, and I'm here to tell you about concealable nose rings. There are a couple different reasons why someone would want to conceal their nose ring. The most popular is a job interview or a special occasion such as a wedding or party. There are concealable nose rings on the market, which are clear. The reason why you would want to wear these is that it makes it, basically, invisible. The reasons why you wouldn't want to wear these is that they're made out of plastic, which usually means that they're porous and can harbor bacteria. on 12/16/2008 There are other materials besides plastic that retainers can be made of. One such material is blown quartz glass which is non-porous and autoclave able (can be sterilized). There are also implant grade metal nostril pieces that have flesh tone dental acrylic ends. Both of these options can be worn long term, the glass is less visible but the metal ones are more durable.
