on 12/16/2008 There are other materials besides plastic that retainers can be made of. One such material is blown quartz glass which is non-porous and autoclave able (can be sterilized). "Hi, I'm Kerri at Zebra in Berkeley, and I'm here to tell you about concealable nose rings. There are a couple different reasons why someone would want to conceal their nose ring. The reasons why you wouldn't want to wear these is that they're made out of plastic, which usually means that they're porous and can harbor bacteria. So you're going to want to make sure that when you do wear a concealable nose ring, that it's only for a short period of time and only for as long as you need it."
