"Hi I'm Richard Gums. We're in Salt Lake City, Utah and we are talking about hard drive basics. I am going to show you how to designate a start up drive. Initially when the computer comes from the factory or you buy it in the store your startup drive is usually your C drive, hard drive but you may later install a second hard drive, a CD Rom, a DVD Rom and for some reason you may need to change that start up drive to be one of the other drives on your system. Now let me show you how to designate a drive. First of all you have to restart the computer. This is the boot menu or the first menu that comes up and it may be different on each system but in this case we want to hit Escape to go into the boot program and you may have to hit it a couple of times to get it to respond. This shows the devices that are on the system. In this case there is a primary drive, the C drive a secondary hard drive, the D drive and then you have also got two, you've got a DVD, redrive drive as the master, and a slave of a DVD Rom drive. So we can select any of these by using the arrow keys and then hit enter to designate that drive as being the boot drive."
