"Hi, this is Irma Benavidez at Simply Beautiful in Austin, Texas. I'm here today to show you how to select a lipstick that will compliment African American skin tones. We have Allie, here, who has a medium dark skin tone. We chose cools and some warm colors. There are several different shades that an African American can wear. Going something a little bit deeper might seem a little scary, but you can always mix your lip colors. Like, I'm choosing a little bit of a berry color and a light gold to add shine. Someone with Allie's coloring can use these types of shades. Someone on the fairer side, it may look a little bit more red mixed together. Someone with a deeper skin tone, it must may look completely shear. Also, don't be afraid of deep browns. They can definitely add shine to the lips, just like this and give the lips a total natural appearance. Again, if you're on the lighter side, choosing a deeper lip gloss can give the lips a beautiful burnt rum color. And, if you're on the deeper side it just may look like a shear gloss. So that's how you select lipstick to compliment African American skin tones."
