"Okay, today we're going to talk about how to wax leg hair and how you're going to do that, you're going to need some certain supplies, so I'm going to give you a list of supplies. You're going to need terry cloth towels. You're going to need some dusting powder, if you don't have actual dusting powder from the beauty supply store you can substitute baby powder. You'll need a blush brush or a powder brush that is clean, free of cosmetics, that you can use with that dusting powder. You'll need wooden spatulas or sticks to use with the wax. You'll need depilatory wax in a warmer and ready to go. You're going to need some oil, botanically based oil that you can use for removal and moisturizing afterwards, and you'll need a skin toner. And you'll need your cloth strips. If you don't have waxing strips and don't have access to a beauty supply store you can actually go to your local fabrics store and purchase muslin which is a type of fabric and you can cut those to fit the size that you would like them to be. And we're going to start by preparing the strips, the first thing you're going to need to do is you're going to need to have muslin strips that are about the same size as the sections or a little larger than the sections that you want to wax. So you can fit them to the person's leg or you can pre-cut them and just have them much larger so you know you've covered enough space. The next thing that you're going to do is you'll want to have a dusting powder and your brush available and you're going to prepare the area to be waxed. And what I do is you just dust this powder on lightly, it's not important that it's you know perfect or that you see it for sure but you need to know that's what's happening here is that powder is going to absorb is going to absorb the excess oil that's in the skin, it's going to then prevent the wax from sticking to the skin when you remove it with the muslin strip. You want to make sure that that's not oily because when you do remove it, if the wax stays on then you're not removing the hair. So that's the purpose for that product. The next step is you're going to take your spatula, and you're going to dip it in and get some of your depilatory wax on the spatula. You can test the temperature of the wax prior to your client coming into the room and you can put some on the back of your hand and remove it with a muslin strip. Today what I'm going to do is a small section just to show you how that wax comes off, you'll just apply it with a spatula, in the direction of the growth of the hair. So it's going to go down, in this case this person's legs actually grow in a downward motion, you're going to take one of these muslin strips and you're going to lay it on top of the area of the section that you're waxing and you're going to smooth it on in a consistent, firm motion and keep it on there really tight, and you want to make sure that there's contact, that it's real secure between the actual skin and the wax, and between the fabric and the wax. And the reason for this is because you're going to be pulling this off in a rapid motion and you're going to pull it off against the direction of the hair growth. And the reason for this is you want to be able to pull the hair out by the follicle, by the root actually. Okay, so then when you pull it off it's going to be a short, quick motion, and you see how quickly that came off, and what will happen is the wax, hopefully if you've done it successfully, will have pulled the hair out of the section of the leg. You can see that section and what we're going to do now is if you have any residual wax which in this case we don't, thank goodness. But if you weren't successful when you pulled it off and didn't pull it off quick enough, didn't pull it off tight enough, you may need to go back with a clean piece of muslin which you can turn your cloth over as I've done here, and just quickly go over the area to make sure any residual wax comes up, and then I have a removal product that I will use on the skin, and what will happen is, this is botanically based lotion and you're going to just apply this to the skin, massage it in, and make sure, and you can do this by feeling, but make sure that you don't have any stickiness, that you're leaving your client with or yourself. And then you're all set."
