"As a Manager, you sometimes have to request a self evaluation from an employee. I'm going to give you some ideas on how you can do that. I'm Gloria Campbell with Advantage Training Systems in St. Petersburg, Florida. Self evaluations are really the standard of today. If you have to request a self examination from an employee, make sure that you give them the information that you want back. In some cases you may have a form that you're going to give them. If not, make sure that you include or you know that they need to include this information. Make sure that they set aside enough time to do an effective self evaluation, that they gather information. There may be information that you will have or you'll need to give them. One of the keys is the job description. The second would be, they should, let them know that they should include any accomplishments, anything that they've done of significance over that past year. Also that you're looking for areas of opportunity for improvement, things that they know they need to work on. And then, what can you do to help? That's where we get into identify their next step. Do they need additional training? Would they, do they need to be able to work with other individuals on different teams? Do they maybe want to do a different job?
