"This is Rachael with Nutrolution in Miami Beach, Florida. In this clip we're talking about how to eat if you're on dialysis. If you don't know what dialysis is, dialysis is basically a medical treatment that people have to do if their kidneys stop functioning. And the most common cause for having to go onto dialysis when you have diabetes, and it causes the kidneys to really stop functioning so well. Your kidneys actually filter out all the different things in your body, but some of the main nutrients that you focus on that you have to limit when you have....when you're on dialysis or you have kidney trouble, are your protein, your sodium, your fluid and your potassium. So we know where fluid comes from, it's things like our water and our soups and even some of our fruits, and our juices. In terms of potassium, some of the most common foods that contain potassium are your....your bananas, your tomatoes, your potatoes. Protein comes from your various different meats and your dairy, and your sodium comes from any of your processed foods as well as some of your meats and cheeses as well.
