Summary: Nanotechnology has impacted warfare by improving protection gear for soldiers, including anti-microbial protection to help heal a wound. Hear about nanotechnology warfare uses and also the MIT Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies from the director of the California Institute of Nanotechnology in this free video on nanotechnology.
Lloyd Leighton Tran is chairman and president of the International Association on Nanotechnology. He is also a member of the Center on Nanotechnology and Society Advisory Board.read more
"Hello this is Lloyd Tran, I am the director of the California Institute of Nanotechnology. Nanotechnology have a big impact in the warfare, and the way people fighting the war now days. As you know Nanotechnology new fuel utilize the best of physical science and life science, and give countries, companies powerful tool in developing weapons and the way to protect even the soldiers. Today there is a research institute in the east coast, this is the soldiers institute of nanotechnologies. Which is a joint development of MIT and Harvard. There are a number of professors, scientists, and researchers work in the field of applications of Nano materials for the warfare. Particularly in the development of protection method for the soldiers. They figured out a way that develop a new clothing, the new protection gears for our soldiers so that when a soldier in the battlefield get the benefit of using advanced technologies to protect the person from either potential, temperature fluctuation in the desert, potential contamination. If the soldier gets wounded the material have ability to release anti microbial protection to help heal the wound. The Nanotechnologies has been used to develop new product which is stronger, have a very large, very tremendous explosive ability, at the same time it could be very small and compact, and thats a tremendous advantage in the war fare. So in a nutshell I think Nanotechnologies can be used either way. could be very harmful way can be used beneficial way. It is up to us to use it wisely. This is Lloyd Tran with the California Institute of Nanotechnology."
