"Questions asked, how to keep score in baseball. First of all, runs in baseball are scored, not points. So each time a player touches home plate, and circles the entire bases, first, second, and third, and reaches home plate, before being retired or put out, and that is the score they run, and it's posted on your scoreboard as a run for that particular team. The team with the most runs at the end of the prescribed time of play whether it be seven or nine innings, depending on what the level of baseball you're playing, the team with the most runs is declared the winner. Should the game be tied you continue to play until someone gets one run ahead, and some games go on up into the sixteen, seventeen, eighteen, nineteen innings, because the runs stay scored. But basically you have to touch home plate without making an out to score a run. A score book can be used to help with this sort of thing, and there are rules for keeping score. A ball that's hit and no one is able to catch it or should not be able to catch it is usually scored ahead, and a ball that is bobbled, muffed or thrown away by a defensive player is usually called an error. Once enough hits or errors are tallied on this score sheet, then someone is forced to be able to go from third to home to score one of these runs we're talking about, once again it's posted on your scoreboard somewhere in the outfield. So to score a baseball game you need to score runs, and you need to score at least one more run than your opposing team does in the prescribed number of innings. An inning is three outs and each time hits their offensive time until three outs are posted. We could go into what constitutes an out and all those things but it would take a great deal of time. But get your score book, more like this one, it has little baseball diamonds where you can draw lines as the player is advanced on the score sheet, and once he scores - advances all four bases and touches home plate, then he scores a run. And that's basically how you score a baseball game."
