"Hi, I'm Greg Lawrence and I'm going to show you how to cut hard on a slalom ski. First of all, when slalom skiing, you will want to hold the handle in what we call a baseball grip. That means one hand's going to be facing upward while the other one's facing lower. This is going to give you a position of power where your bicep will allow you to really hold that handle in very strong. As you cut you're going to want to initiate your shoulders into the motion and lock down your outside arm against your body. What that allows you to do is really lean away from the boat. Now, if you notice, my hips are forward. It's very important when you are making a strong cut that your hips remain forward. Otherwise, you lose your power. As soon as your hips get out behind your chest you lose your power. So, to recap, a strong cut is fist initiated with the hips and shoulders, and then locked in with your hips forward and your arm against your body. And that's how to make a hard cut on a slalom."
