"Hi my name is Veronica Baragas with my wiggles and giggles dot com. And I'm going to share with you how to start a home daycare center. First and foremost you want to check out if you are going to be running a daycare in your home, if you are going to have the amount of space. The state is definitely going to regulate square footage per child, so you want to make sure that you have a designated area for the children and lots of outside room play. You know you can take into a hundred percent of your house and count it as far as square footage goes. But definitely if you are only planning on you know maybe taking three kids a lot of the times you only have to be listed with the state which means that they don't come and regulate or inspect. But if you are planning on taking more then three kids, you want to set up for an orientation with the state and find out who regulates your area to make sure that you get all the minimum standards for running a home daycare. It's not, it can be a very difficult job, it can be long hours, you know you are running everything, you run it, you are working from home, so make sure that it is something that you really want to do. Maybe you have you know a couple of kids of your own and you just want to add some playmates to them. You still want to be registered with the state. You still want to get licensed and make sure that you are running you know a legit business even if it is out of your home. So like I said start, check with your state regulations and you know just kind of sit down with yourself and take in you know, take some time to write down why you want to open up a home daycare. If you can, you know if you have the facility, the right aspects in your home to provide a daycare can you make it safe. Do you have enough yard space, things like that. So just check with your state and you know kind of make sure that this is something you really want to do."
