How to Make People Look Pretty With Photoshop

I'm a photographer and digital retouching artist here in New York City. In this clip we're going to talk about how to make people look pretty in Photoshop. Now there probably is many ways of making someone look pretty as there are photographers who use Photoshop. In this particular instance I'm going to show you a trick that I like to use. It helps to start with somebody who's actually pretty, like this young lady, but basically all it takes it go to filter, your filter fly out, go into distort and select diffuse glow. And once you've selected that particular filter, if you want to see the effect that it has, you can see there that it's - I want to zoom out just a little bit so you can see more of her face. In the preview pane...as you can see it just adds a real sort of dream, ethereal effect, you can change the amount of graininess, raise it or lower it, depending on your particular taste. Maybe not quite as much of a glow. So you can increase or decrease the intensity of the effect with the sliders. But I think you can probably see from this that it gives just a little bit of a - it softens out all the imperfections of the skin, and adds a little bit of a glow to the image overall. And it's - obviously it's not as realistic as some people might like it to be but I find that it does enhance the beauty of the subject. So that's one way.
