"Hi. I'm Teri, and in this segment, we're going to show you how to do pin curls. Pin curls were huge in the 40s, 50s, and 60s, long before hair dryers were around. So, I'm going to start by wetting your hair. You can do it completely with soaking wet hair after you get out of the shower, or you can just spritz your hair damp, if you don't want the curls to be as tight. You may want to use a little bit of gel or a little bit of hair spray to set the curl. So you can do that one of two ways. You can put the gel in while the hair is damp. Or once it's set like this, you can just spray it with a little bit of hair spray. These pin curls are really easy, actually, because you don't need any accessories but your own finger. And all you're going to do is you're going to make sure you have a nice, combed piece of hair, no knots. And the bigger the section you take, the bigger the curls you're going to get. I want nice, small curls. So I'm taking smaller sections. I'm just going to wrap it around my finger, like this. When I get to the scalp, pull it off, and I pin it. I do another one here. Wrap it from the bottom all the way to the top, pull it off. That one slipped off. Let's go again. When your hair's wet, it's a lot easier to do. It won't get slippery on you. And pin it. You let that sit for at least a few hours, until it's dry, or sleep..."
